5000 or 10000 men to help out they would of saved lives. I absolutely cannot stand for in justice and if I was the president I would have send the men even if we didn’t have any interest in the country that doesn’t mean we could stop a genocide from occurring.
In my opinion I think that the genocide could have been stopped by the Americans and the Belgium and the other NATO counties.
If we all would have gotten together and we all agreed to send 5000 men each we could have stopped. In fact, we the people know that people we were still going to be killed and not just Tutsis but America lives as well, Belgium lives would have been lost to. In my opinion we should have had more troops from the un there as well and we should have warned the Tutsis to have stayed out of contact with any Hutu. In my opinion the Americans and the UN troops that were together they should of had control over the radio so they could have just given some Tutsis a head up. Why didn’t we just train some of the Tutsis to fight back and maybe more of them, could of lived or this genocide would have never …show more content…
happened.
In my opinion this was bound to happen because the Hutus never liked that the Tutsis were in power in the old days. The Hutus always said that when the Tutsis were in power they treated the huts like slaves and would kill some of them. In my opinion there is some way it could have been stopped but think about it more no you can’t never stop a war like this the Tutsis didn’t even have weapons to defend them self. This could of not have been stopped because the Hutu even had the Tutsis priest lured Tutsis into a church were the Hutus murdered all a lot of then in there. They had no one to trust so not even their own neighbors could be trusted and when they thought that the Americans were there to help them out they were just there to do their job and get all the white people out which were Americans.
In my opinion Philip statement, in my opinion he is correct because of so many reasons. First of we had lost so many men in the Somalia when the black hawk went down and the people were frightening by what had happened in Somalia that they didn’t want to see in more Americans to get killed. The us also didn’t have any interest in Rwanda like did they give us oil or did they have money we could take from them because we decided to move troops in so they left the Rwanda genocide out of play and never seem to care so much for what was going on. In my opinion when he says that they succeeded greatly he says that because at the end the US really did win because they didn’t have to get involved and we didn’t lose any of our troops and they didn’t lose money on that war so they believed that is was in their best need to stay out of it that’s why they succeeded.
In conclusion I believe that the Rwanda genocide count have been stopped.
There were just some reasons that made me think that it could of had not happed but there will always be controversy whether or not it could of been stopped before it had happened or could have had happen. My reaction to this video is still the same way to just makes me feel sick to my stomach and can’t believe that the us didn’t send in at least 2000 us troops. I my opinion I also agree with the statement that Mr. Gourevitch said. In my opinion we the us absolutely succeeded from not going to war and help out the people of Rwanda but is wasn’t the best
decision.
