Many argue that the Cape Wind Project should be approved and built for many reasons. For starters, since the Cape Wind Project will produce renewable energy, it will help reduce greenhouse gases. This will help save the earth especially during this stressful time with climate change. The Cape Wind Project can also provide a much safer, more efficient source for renewable energy.

of Cape Cod, Nantucket, and Martha’s Vineyard in Nantucket Sound. This couldn’t be a better place because of all the advantages the coastline has to offer. First, the water there is shallow so the turbines do not have to be big which is an efficient way to save money. If the water was 100 feet deep, then the turbines would have to go 100 feet underwater and they would still need to be high enough above the water at the same time. Since the water is shallow, the turbines don’t have to be big which helps save money. Also, this location is prime because of the calm current, and high wind speeds. The high wind speeds are key to powering a wind farm because if the windmill doesn’t turn as fast as it needs to, it can’t power as many things as it needs to. The high wind speeds are also beneficial because if it is always windy, then the turbines will never stop ensuring power at all times.
The Cape Wind Project doesn’t just benefit the environment and have a great location, it is also good for the economy.
The Cape Wind Project is good for the economy because it is a cheaper source of renewable energy. Although offshore energy is expensive, this form of offshore energy is cheaper once you factor in all the extra benefits it comes with. _________________ states that the Cape Wind Project will only add about $1.75 per month to a single electric bill which is not that much considering all the benefits it comes with.
Despite all these great benefits that will come with Cape Wind, there are many people that argue Cape Wind should not go up, and they have many reasons to back up their beliefs.
Cape Wind is supposed to be great for everyone, but in reality it is not. Along the coast of Cape Cod, there are two Indian tribes, both the Mashpee Wampanoag of Cape Cod and the Aquinnah Wampanoag of Martha’s Vineyard. Another reason the Cape Wind Project is a bad idea is because it is very costly, and a waste of time according to some. Other environmentalists say that the Cape Wind Project is a threat to public safety, because there is no way of monitoring how close boats get, and if they get to close, it can be a safety hazard. Also, to fund this project, there will be a huge increase in the amount of money taxpayers will have to
pay.
Besides the environment, it is believed that the Cape Wind Project will endanger local business, threaten local jobs, and hurt local properties. It will hurt local residences because not to many people like waking up and seeing a giant wind farm out their window.
Another reason this project is not moving forward is because of the concerns over an oil spill. To power to turbines, oil will need to regularly be placed in the wind mills. If the oil spills and gets into the water, it could do lots of damage to all of the marine life, as well as cost a fortune to clean it all up. With all of the marine life living below these windmills, environmentalists fear that these wind mills will disturb and interfere with the normal behavior of all the animals.
