But why so many Americans claim to have “Cherokee blood”? The studies have shown that the Cherokee have been in the southeastern side of the united states since at least A.D. 1000. When the europeans cam in the mid-16th century, cherokee were already well-stablished cultural and social tradition, the women have a huge political and social power in the Cherokee society. The children of tribe inherit the identity of the mother, the women are up to control the adaptation of the outsiders into the responsibilities of clan membership.
