All Cubans have innumerable reasons and desires to leave Cuba. In my particular case, was an imperative need because my mother was here for already a year, being only child, these separation had a significant impact on our lives. Consequently, family reunion got me on the path. Additionally, I had the desire to experience life in a different way and gain in my personal fulfilment. Study along with the possibility of travel without restrictions in order to know places and to learn new things was also in my bucket list.

Discrimination for being Cuban, for being Latin is felt constantly and it comes mainly from Cuban Americans themselves, which is sad and disgraceful. But still, you give your best face and get over the obstacles ad keep moving. I remember when I first start at my present job, how I suffered this type of treatment and I could say even bullying. However, I overcame that, and with effort, dedication and persistence I managed to fit into the team and to be promoted to a better position. From that moment I was convinced that no matter how hard and insulting people behave sometimes, you have to be your own impeller motor. Motivate yourself to continue fighting and getting and achieving all that you have dream. There are so many opportunities to take advantage of, that will be nonsense if are not taken.
As a Cuban I can’t complain, after all, we receive a lot of benefits from the government of this country. This is something I will appreciate forever. Before coming here, the idea to reciprocate, with my humble contribution, all of these helps and benefits, was always in my mind. Therefore these is one of countless reasons I want to become a nurse. I have the vocation and the conviction that these profession requires. I am proud to be on the right path to realize my dreams. Helping others, it will always the most rewarding act as a human
