I identified early on that if I wanted to be successful in life I would have to leave Jamaica in order to capitalize on the educational and future career opportunities in America.
As my knowledge on the ideology of life and my understanding of who I am and who I would like to become transitions, a more mature and objective process of thinking has cultivated, and my eyes have been opened to see the fundamental concept of being an American Resident/Citizen. America needs a supportive backbone to advocate the country’s productivity and development. This attribute is already instilled in me as my ultimate goal is to give back to the country which has provided me with opportunities and that I now claim as my own. I have been volunteering within my school and community , participating in blood drives, school clean ups, and relay for life events. My perception of America has opened many doors to me personally and has instilled in me the notion that with every opportunity taken, something should be contributed back to the country as an incentive. I plan on becoming a Registered Nurse because I enjoy helping and making a difference in people’s lives. I want to promote good health for the people of our country. I have already embarked on my journey by being a part of a free Certified Nursing Assistant program . The feeling of helping others motivates me to establish my own initiative and continuously strive for success. I plan on facilitating my own free class upon receiving proper qualification as a R.N. This would be for aspiring caregivers, passing down the preliminary skills and knowledge needed. I want to allow them to have a solid foundation in the medical field as well as obtaining a job. I also intend on

I am a Chicana. I speak English. I dress differently. I may not seem Mexican enough, yet I still share the struggles that are a reality to my parents. I was the little brown girl with an American dream. I never once doubted that dream, so I confidently followed it. My story is not a unique story. This is the story of a person who seeks to be an asset to this country. However, my journey is one that places me in a dissent with those who would rather prefer I do not combat the injustice in my community. For this reason, I am the sole curmudgeon Latine in the perspective of those who are out of reach with my experiences.…
