Group mentoring is a method where individuals can learn and development whilst making use of numerous mentors with vast expertise in a group setting . Even though group mentoring is designed as a group session, the learning and development is on an individual level.
The difference between a classroom training session and a group mentoring session is that the classroom training has pre-determined training material and all the learners gain the same knowledge. Group mentoring however allows the mentor/s to guide the mentees by sharing experiences, provides a safe and confidential environment, allow for job shadowing and most of all building of relationships .

1. Every mentee has their own individual learning objectives.
2. Two-way beneficial relationships.
3. Mentors lead and guide as appose to train.
4. Many various topics are dealt with.
5. Participation in activities include mentors and mentees.

c. Risks:
With the list of positive benefits to group mentoring there are a few risks that can interfere with the learning and development of mentees and mentors:
1) Various personality types:
a) “Know-it-all” mentees - Seek to take control of the group.
b) Shy or withheld mentees – Zero no little participation
c) Mentor/s that may lack enthusiasm and commitment to the group. .
2) Poor planning – Poor project planning and commination to the mentee groups
3) Inadequate buy-in – Both mentor/s and mentees.
