This is the format; Introduction/Section A/theme 1 transitions to Section B with themes 2, 3, and 4 and back to section A and theme 1. Karajan finishes by recapping the Introduction. Movement 3- Scherzo, ternary form (ABA’) is an optional movement which Karajan elects to use, this movement in the piece is my favorite because I can follow along easily (I think). We have an introduction followed by Section A consisting of 2 parts with a closing session. B section or the trio also has 2 parts followed by a transition to A section, closing with the Coda.
