Do you use technology before you go to sleep at night? I know many people, including myself, are doing this or have done this before. Using technology before sleep is found to be one of the main causes for sleep deprivation. Sleep deprivation (often called insomnia) is when you cannot or can barely get enough sleep. Often, this occurs many times in a row. Have you ever tossed and turned in bed and still were not able to get to sleep? This is an example of insomnia. Have you ever woken up drowsy? Drowsiness is a symptom of this along with many others, including depression and memory loss. However many know what insomnia is and some know what the causes are, many Americans still use technology before sleep.

According to Rasmussen College, "95% of people surveyed reported using technology immediately before sleep. Of those, 51% reported rarely or never getting a good night's sleep..." As you can see from the survey results, over half of the people who use technology before sleep report insomnia. We need to stop this before Americans turn into literal working zombies.
There is no question that technology is ruining sleep for many people. Out of all my research, I found no reliable websites that disagree with me. If no professional can disagree with this, then why are people still doing this? The argument from many people is that they do not want to give up their electronics. I do not understand how people can know all of the harm and still do this for selfish reasons, like pleasure. Insomnia can not be cured.
