A memorial is very special to a lot of family, friends and even strangers when it’s a big impact towards the world. A memorial is very special because it helps remember lives, keeps legacies alive, and are for family members to visit from time to time. On September 11, 2011 the 9/11 memorial was dedicated towards all the lives that was lost on September 11, 2001. Nearly 3,000 people were killed in the terrorists attacks.
People lost their parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, sisters, brothers, and friends during these attacks. On the bronze parapets surrounding the pools are inscribed the names of the 3,00 people killed.

Today's time everyone is equal and joined as one with the help from Dr.King. Many people look up to him as a good role model and think having a memorial is very special. On the visible side of the Stone of Hope, the words “Out of the mountain of despair, a stone of hope,” a line from Dr.King’s “I have a dream” speech is cut into the stone.
