Essay On My Welding Career
It all started when my friend came to me about a welding program at Black River Technical College. He wanted to know if I would be interested in attending the program with him. I had already completed a Medical Coding and Medical Transcription programs with distinction from Black River Technical College. My thought was to have two medical billing certifications so I could do more at a hospital I could work for and not get burned out on the same routine day end and day out. After I achieved those certifications I could not find a job anywhere near my home. When the welding opportunity came, I jumped on it immediately. Not to say I wasn’t nervous but I was. A new career choice. How many career choices can a person have until they find the perfect job? Do they just settle? Can finding that job happen? And being a TBI …show more content…
Very informative and very insightful. His nature inspired me to evolve with my knowledge and not to stick with just one aspect of welding because there are so many different working roles in the profession. My new role is to finish my bachelors in business management from Hanibal-Legrange University. After I finish this degree I am going o attend the Hobart School for welding and achieve my CWI and CTE and be a welding educator. The first day of welding school was the scariest of first days back to school I’ve ever had. I was more nervous for the first day of welding school than my first day of school for my bachelors. What will the students be like? What will the instructor be like? Will they like me? Will they hate me? Can I put up with my fellow students? Are they going to be a bunch of ass holes? I had never been in a vocational school style learning program because I was always in college prep classes and at that time and heard of the rambunctious, flamboyancy that took place in that type of learning environment. At that time, I didn’t know I was waiting my time with college prep because welding was my true calling which I found out ten years

My first job was working as Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA). I started working in the field when I graduated high school. A close friend introduced me to the nursing field. My friend said the job didn’t require much education, you just had to like working with people. I thought well, I am really good with people, I thought this should be easy. I worked as a CNA for about five years, and I realize that the job didn’t offer any challenges. I felt as if I wasn’t really going anywhere, I just had a job. I decided that maybe if I had a specialty that I would feel more challenged. I decided to become a hospice CNA. A hospice CNA cares for patients in the end stages of life. Well, I didn’t know what I was signing up for. I didn’t realize…

Since I was young, I knew I wanted a career within the health and science world because I was fascinated and excited to learn about it. The exact profession I wanted to enter switched frequently but always landed into the previously mentioned parameters. I finally had decided to become a nurse and was dead set on that for many years. In high school, I enrolled into an online class to become a certified nursing assistant. I loved the course material and learning how the health facilities were run. When clinicals started, however, I found my feelings changing more negatively towards the class. I loved working with the residents but had a hard time not getting too emotional. I decided that nursing wasn’t the path I wanted to go on and started…

I have always had a passion to work in the healthcare field, but I just didn’t know what exactly I wanted to do. I don’t want to stick people with needles and I don’t like really gory scenes so I knew becoming a surgeon or even a nurse was out of the question. When my aunt died from breast cancer, I told myself if I could find a job that dealt with cancer I would pursue it because I want to help people overcome this obstacle so they can continue to be with their families. At first I wanted to become a physical therapist. But like most college students, my freshmen year I realized that’s not what I wanted to do and I was lost. Fortunately, I remembered in high school we did a career assessment online to help us see what careers we might be interested in. Of course I have changed since high school so I…

It is thought that by the time a senior graduates she should know what career path to take in life. As I walked across the stage as a young graduate many years ago it was unclear to me that career path I wanted to take in life. I always believed that I wanted to live a multipurpose life. I wanted to do something that I loved. I wanted to do something challenging and with good pay. I could be a Sports Therapist, a teacher or even a lawyer. After changing my major several times, I decided to obtain a BA in English, which led me to become an Educator. That is until recently when I was laid off because of budget cuts. That very safe career as a teacher was no longer promising. Guess I could say it was a good thing because out of the 11 years that I taught, I spent four of those years trying to figure out what I wanted to do and how I was going to make my big career move. I found it difficult to return to school in pursuit of a Master’s degree because the majority of my free time was taken up with continuing education courses to become and stay a highly qualified teacher. Teaching was okay. It is a satisfying feeling when a student finally gets it, but that wasn’t enough. I needed a career where I thought I could show off that “spunk” in me. I wanted to make big decisions and become a leader. I felt the need to do more and make more money than what a career as an educator would allow me to do.…

School has always been an important goal in my life. Growing up I always wanted to attend college for at least 10 years to receive a law degree. Now that I’m older I realized that law is not what I want. I am interested in a B.S. and then an M.S. in Sociology, receiving a welding certificate, plus my C.D.L. license. I plan to work hard and finish college with at least my b/s in Sociology. I am a good listener. I like to understand people’s feelings, how they come to a point in their lives; that they need someone to help them cope with their feelings. The welding certificate is a family trait; the union came knocking at my door. The certificate only takes 60 days to receive. The only thing I like about the union is the benefits. I always wanted to own an 18-wheeler. My goal is to one day have my own truck business, that makes deliveries, trash dumpsters and removals. I know that I can complete these goals in less than 10 years. The next 10 years I…

After high school, I have two possible career plans that I can to take on after I graduated from high school. I want to go to driver-training school in the summer time, so that way I will have my permit but I’m going to wait until I turn 18 next September, than go back to get my license . I also plan on filling out scholarships that’s going to help me pay for school. And in January I also plan on filling out my FASFA Aid that could help pay off college the whole time I’m there. Then my first choice is me going to college to be an art director and my second choice is going for culinary art. I love the passion of it, just knowing that I can pick up a pencil and paper and describe what I love or like or even describe the way I’m feeling. I also plan on going into the real world with my Best friend Char’Dinea. We both know how to draw, but we both going to the same college for different things. The college that we are planning to go to is Wayne County Community College District, for two year. Then we are transferring over to either Wayne State University, Saginaw Valley or a different university that accept our major, so that we can finish the years up to get the degrees we want. The whole purpose of being an art director is to get a job function of: theater, advertising, marketing, publishing, film, television, internet, and video games. It’s a big campus and I will need to keep a 2.0 or higher to stay there. By it being a Community College, they don’t have any dorms rooms so we decided that we are going to get a nice apartment together and go half on the rent. I want to found a job close to the college or the apartment we choose to rent out. The job I’ll choose from have to be legitimate job that pay a decent amount of money and that pay for my dental and health care. While I’m working I will maintain myself to school by: studying, school first party later, and help others as I will soon to need. I will major in art marketing…
