how emotionally draining being a hospice caregiver could be. I didn’t know that you would form close and bonding relationships with people that would soon be dying. I worked hospice for ten years, and I realized that this job required more of me than I had to give. During the end stages of my career as a CNA. I met a family that offered me a new career opportunity. I was offered a position at Junior Achievement as an Administrative Assistant. I thought okay, I don’t even know how to turn on the computer, but I’ll take it! I didn’t know what to expect from the job, but I was up for the challenge! When I met with the hiring manager, she read the job description and explained to me the job requirements. I thought well I better I start gathering all the information that I could find on Administrative Assistant jobs. Needless to say, I excelled at the job. After a year of employment, during my annual review my supervisor informed me that there was a management position available. The position was a Development Manager for Junior Achievement. The job description mention things like public speaking, one on one meeting with donors, presentation, and reports. I had no experience with either. So once again, I gathered all the information I could on how to be a manger. I also, excelled at the job. My fund raising goal was set $13,000 for the calendar year. I went on to raise $160,000 in that year. I learned through that experience that you can excel at anything with true determination.
