In other words it’s where a group of likeminded believers join to express and share what they believe in collectively. Throughout the world there were five major religions Christianity, Buddhism, Islam, Hinduism and Judaism. Today there are roughly 4,200 types of religions with New Age being the fastest growing religion today . New Age is known to be what I call the melting pot of all religions. It has taken some of what we consider traditional religion and modern religion to formulate their own beliefs. New Age is anything but organized religion as it has no creed, membership, founders, headquarters etc. The practices of most New Age can be categorized as alternative and spiritual religions. Pantheism is the view that God is everything and everyone and that everyone and everything is God. Many cults and false religions have this same belief that God is everything such as an animal, a rock, the sun, a tree, you me etc. Pantheism is not taught in the Holy Bible of the Christians as we believe God’s omnipresence. In the book of Psalm 139:7-8 declares, “Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.” This is where New Agers get confused yes God is everywhere at every time but it does not make him a tree or a person. New Agers believe that we are part of one substance as Power, Mind, Force, Principle and Universal

Religion is a collection of cultural systems, belief systems, and worldviews that relate humanity to spirituality and sometimes, to moral values (Talal, 1982). Religions most notably are represented by symbols, stories, traditions or anything that tends to explain the meaning of life or the creation of earth and its beings. Each religion has its take on morality, ethics, religious laws, and lifestyle. Many religions have determined behaviors which include meetings or worship services. During these services they are worshipping their deity or praying to him or her. In observing religion, you may also see other services that members may be involved in which include sacrifices, revivals, feasts or dinners, initiations, funerals, marriage ceremonies, meditations, music, dances, and art.…

New-Age beliefs and practices have experienced a significant growth in the past 40 years. The term New Age applies to the extensive range of belief systems and therapies that have developed since the 1970s. Where New Age is centred on some form of beliefs, these rarely fit into normal religious categories as they do not follow sacred texts or have a belief in God. Many New-Age movements (NAMs) are less belief systems than what Paul Heelas refers to as the ‘holistic milieu’ embracing a range of therapies and activities associated with healing and self-discovery. Therefore the idea that New Age reflects a growing spirituality depends on the definition and understanding of what constitute New Age and spirituality respectively.…

As Ninian Smart stated in his writing of Religion and Human Experience it is impossible to simply give religion one single definition instead Smart tries to give a description of what it means to be a religion. In this description he sees religion as “Is a six-dimensional organism, typically containing doctrines, myths, ethical teachings, rituals, and social institutions, and animated by religious experiences of various kinds. ”-Ninian Smart. In this statement Smart says religion should be seen as an organism with the idea that all religion are continually moving, growing and changing just as an organism would. Another way to driver the comparison of religion to an organism is the fact that all religions are uniquely their own but do have some…

New Age spirituality is a relatively recent, Western concept. This form of spirituality often involves the appropriation of many ideas or practices found in older religions, such as meditation and asceticism, and merging them together in an ahistorical belief system. Most new age spiritualists see themselves as “gurus” and use terms and beliefs often found in Hinduism and Buddhism, to name a couple, to preach a holistic view of spirituality and divinity that finds its roots in the same religions. However, the “gurus” give no historical context apart from mentioning that they are using practices or divinities found in a, usually, Southeast Asian religion. Lawrence Edwards, a “recognized expert in the field of Kundalini, our innate power of…
