The second amendment protects one of the most important rights that an American has, which is the right to keep and bear arms. However despite the second amendment clearly stating that “... the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” we the people are constantly under the threat of having one of our essential and fundamental rights stripped from us by authoritarian leftists who continually minimize the rights of Americans. The original purpose of the second amendment and why it was included in the Bill of Rights is for the people of the United States to have the ability to resist unjust government tyranny. However when you look at countries like England and Wales that have banned guns murder rates have not actually decreased at all, they have actually increased in extreme measures according to statistics provided by crimeresearch.org. Other arguments are made by the left about banning semi-automatic rifles like AR-15s because they were used in several mass shootings like the one in Sandy Hook. However what is not considered is that AR-15s are one of the most popular rifles used in hunting and for personal protection and banning these types of firearms wouldn’t do anything to limit the amount of mass shootings which occur in this country. One action that would take strides to help to prevent and limit the amount of damage done by mass shootings would be to give more good responsible law abiding citizens the ability to conceal carry firearms. There have been multiple mass shootings prevented and even stopped by citizens who were lawfully carrying firearms. These are mass shootings that may not have been prevented had there been laws in place to restrict the ownership or carrying of
