The greatest responsibility that leaders in public policymaking have is to serve the public. The public constitutes not only those who elect a leader, but anyone who’s lives could be affected by the decisions made by that leader. These decisions may have lasting impacts on future generations and across borders and so necessitate a leader who has a conception of things as they are today but also as they could be in the future. Therefore, to serve the public to the greatest degree possible, the ideal ethical leader must embody certain leadership skills to enable him or her to work more effectively with those around them. The ideal ethical leader should also embody certain ethical and moral philosophies to make sure that the actions and/ or decisions that he or she takes are not in his or her interest, but in the interest of the public and in improving the lives of those they serve. Additionally, the ideal ethical leader should work in a collaborative effort when possible to ensure that policy decisions are balanced. Moreover, the ideal ethical leader should follow a transformational approach to leadership with sentiments of both the skills and situational approach to leadership along with a utilitarian and duty perspective on ethics and moral philosophy grounded on justice’s theory concern for those least privileged in society. A leader who follows these leadership skills and ethical and moral philosophies will be more apt to make decisions that are not based on any personal interest, but in the interest of those whom he or she is ultimately responsible to – the public.…

Overview Low cost traveling started in Singapore in 2004. Since then the industry has grown rapidly and namely Airlines like Tiger Airways, Jetstar Asia Airways and AirAsia has been able to prosper due to their competitive prices. However, all might not be as rosy in the aviation industry. Escalating fuel costs, debt troubles in Europe and natural disasters threaten the industry’s profitability. With oil prices sky rocketing to over $100 a barrel, and expecting to remain high over the next five years, elevated oil prices will keep the airfare prices high. According to Jeff Knittel, the 2012 outlook for the global aviation sector is dependent on the overall global economical growth. Despite these headwinds, there is still hope at the end of the tunnel. Rising disposable income, tourism promotions and low-cost airlines will assist the industry’s revenue growth for the next five years. Task/Target Market Scoot, having recently entered the industry via the support of its parent company, Singapore Airline, is vying for a place within the industry front runners. With its maiden flight set to depart in June 2012, Scoot has thus tasked us to promote its flights for the June holidays, during the April - May period, in hope to promote trial and infuse brand switching amongst those in Singapore, who lead a conventional family life, and seek to give better to do their families daily.. On the night of 31 October 2000, Singapore Airlines Flight SQ006, at 11:18 P.M. local time (Taipei), took off from Chiang Kai-Shek Airport (Taipei) heading to Los Angeles (Marketeer, 2002). Before the taking off, the weather was enormously terrible due to Typhoon Xangasane (Christian Dougoud, 2012). There were 159 passengers and 20 crew members on the flight. The pilots were allowed to take the plane off along the 5L (left) runway, because 5R (right) runway was under construction according to the allowance of staffs from the Air Traffic Control Tower of Chiang Kai-Shek Airport (AviationXlPane, 2013). The situation in the Air Traffic Control (ATC), staffs did not notice that the plane was going in the wrong runway (Marketeer, 2002). The situation on the flight SQ006, before the pilots taxied the plane to 5L runway, they had thought that the plane reached the 5L runway already, but what they thought was wrong. The reason that they turned to the wrong runway because of the wind and the speed. Normally, before plane taking off the speed must be 16 knots, but SQ006 went at the speed at 9 knots as the regulation of terrible weather, so the pilots decided to turn into the runway earlier than it must be (AviationXlPane, 2013). The pilots asked for a permission to take off again because they could not see the runway clearly, and the ATC informed that the SQ006 was on 5L already. After the pilots were permitted to take off, as the plane was gaining to take off at 156 knots, suddenly, the left wing of the plane collided with the constructive tractor on the runway, the plane lost its balance and crashed down. Even though, the accident happened on the ground, but the plane broke into 2 parts and erupted into flames (Marketeer, 2002). The passengers who were in the middle body of the plane died the most, because the fuel was store at the middle part of the plane. Most of deaths came from; burned, choking of the smoke, and many passengers did not pay…
