St. Joan was born on January 6th, 1412 to a peasant family in Domremy, France. She died on May 30th, 1431. Her feast day is May 30th. She was beatified on April 18th, 1909 in St. Peter’s Basilica by Pope Pius X. May 16th, 1920 was the day that she was officially canonized in St. Peter’s Basilica by Pope Benedict XV.

Two soldiers escorted her there. While there, she met with Charles VII and gained his trust. From there, she gained armor (included a donated horse, sword, banner, armor, and more) and an army to help back her up. She fought hard in battle and was wounded two times (an arrow to the shoulder and a crossbow bolt). Later on, she was captured. She tried many times to escape. She failed. She was tried by the English, found guilty, and was burned at the stake. The English burned and raked her over and over again, then they threw her remnants into the Seine River to make sure that no one got any piece of her.
St. Joan is someone who took “no” for an answer and stood up for what she believed in. What was so cool about this was that she was no older than I am now, and she fought as hard as she could just based off of her beliefs. Also, during the 1400s, a woman did not do anything outside of her home, especially without a male. She went against all of the standards that society had and fought for her faith. St. Joan is great role model (especially to women and girls) that helps you realize that you can get out of your comfort zone and trust God, even when things are
