The secret society was formed to protect the rights of the colonists and to deal with the British government. In the stamp act of 1765, they played an important role in most of the colonies. After the stamp act was repealed, the group was officially dissolved.
Under pressure from the patriots, the consignee of Charleston and Philadelphia refused to accept tea, but in Boston, the chosen businessman refused to admit it. The first tea ship, Dartmouth, arrived in Boston on Nov. 27 and arrived twice in Boston. At the same time several large meetings were held to demand the return of British tea duty-free. The patriot, led by Samuel Adams, tried to persuade the consignee, and the governor accepted the practice.
On December 16, at a large meeting in the southern church, hutchinson finally refused. At midnight, a large crowd looked at Adams, and a small group of men, disguised as the Mohawk indians, boarded the ship and gave up tea.
