way to college like a burning arrow. The program has been preparing me for college in countless ways;
for example, the summer component helps students to experience college life by living on our own
with a roommate. Also, Upward Bound has aided me with ACT preparatory classes during the
summer.
The Summer Component of Upward Bound is a tremendous help to better my experience of

Being on time to class is demanding when living on your own. I have learned to go to
sleep early in order to not be exhausted in my morning classes. Lastly, living with a roommate can
strengthen our social skills by means of talking and interacting with him or her.
Taking the American College Test (ACT) is almost an inevitable part of getting into college so
preparing for that golden opportunity is wise. The ACT preparatory classes that Upward Bound has
provided for me are rigorous yet rewarding. My first time to ever test I reached a composite score of
19. With the help of the ACT prep classes, I achieved a score of 22; no more than four months later.
Managing to obtain a higher score has improved my chances of qualifying for numerous scholarships.
The Upward Bound program has assisted as both my adviser and mentor. Without the program,
I would be lost like a sailor without his compass in the sea of opportunities. That is why Upward
Bound is a savior and advocate among the low income as tutors guide the way to and through college.
