* President of the Somerville High School Teen Health Club for a year and a half (2009-2010), where I was engaged in leading and participating in various healthcare related activities.
* As president of the Teen Health Club, I participated in near weekly meetings where topics ranging from teen pregnancy, STDs, diet, exercise, and other important health related issues were discussed among students. With guidance from teachers, education and awareness was provided to students, on issues relevant to their health and well being.
* As president of the Teen Health Club, I organized and promoted an anti-smoking campaign in high school.
* Through the Teen Health Club, I volunteered at the HUTCHINS TRANSTIONAL CARE UNIT (for senior/elderly care) in Somerville MA for a week, where I shadowed nurses providing care to seniors. Under the guidance of teachers and the nursing staff at the facility, I was actively engaged in helping nurses’ complete health care related tasks and with assisting the
elderly.
