Old Navy all the way!!!
In my senior year in high school, I had to pass two classes only in order to graduate.
I didn’t have to stay in school the entire day, but I had to find a job in order to leave school early or I was going to be given six more classes to meet with the regular school schedule.
I applied for a job at many places, but couldn’t find one for about two months. One day one of my classmates who worked at Old Navy informed me that they were hiring. I applied at Old Navy right after class and I received a call for an interview four hours later.
I went in for the interview the same day and I was hired. I thought that was my lucky day because I always wanted to work in a clothing store instead of fast food. I worked at Old
Navy as a sales associate. I belong to the discourse community of the Old navy sales associates because I accomplished great performance in customer service, and taught other associates how to use the register.
In order to belong to the discourse community of sales associates, I had taken several steps. I had to pass through three interviews with three different managers.
Because Old Navy was my first job, I went through a three day training. My training consisted of customer service on the floor, register, and the organization of clothes in the section they belonged to. I was given a name tag and a walkie-talkie to communicate with other sales associates who worked in different section of the store. I was introduced to all the store managers and some of my coworkers.
I belong to the discourse community of sales associates because I was recognized by my customers and coworkers for being part of this community. I spent eight hours everyday meeting new people. I got to relate with some mothers who shopped for their daughters of my age, so I suggested them clothes, shoes, and the little things that teenagers like. I
