I Want To Be A Nurse Essay
Ever since I can remember I have always had a strong desire to be a nurse, to help others in need. I have a tremendous amount of respect for nurses and their dedication to their life long profession. In my opinion, a nurse must always have good interpersonal skills, be reliable, caring and empathetic. A nurse must be compassionate and provide care without being prejudice and without judgement. Being that nurses are usually the first line of care for a patient who is scared and upset, you must have the ability to instill trust and confidence. Nursing requires someone with a huge heart and a desire to care for those that are ill, injured, or dying. I believe I have all of these qualities that make a great nurse and I truly feel I was born to …show more content…
With my skills and knowledge from APU, I want to provide excellent care and leave a great impression on my patients. I would educate my patient to promote a healthy lifestyle and advocate for them when needed.
Being that there is endless career possibilities available in the nursing field, after I receive my BSN and become a licensed registered nurse, I would like to specialize in pediatric oncology. Being a mother, I can sympathize and understand a parent’s frustration when their child is sick. I know how to control my emotions and stay clam in stressful situations. I want to be the voice for children that cannot speak up for themselves.
Nursing will be demanding and at times very challenging, but I feel the reward of impacting someone’s life is worth the stress. I want to go into the pediatric nursing field for many reasons. I really enjoy working with kids especially little children. Volunteering at a saturday school with 4-5 year olds I became very good and comforting a child when sad or lonely. I work well with little children and enjoy being with them. I also want to go into nursing because every time I go to the doctors I always feel as if the nurses there do not enjoy their job. Which is probably wrong but they just always seem so monotone. I am half japanese so every summer when I go over to Japan and need to go to the doctors, the nurses there are always smiling trying to ease the tension between the child and the nurse themselves and that is the kind of nurse I want to be. I want to be a nurse like that in America to show people how much of a difference it could make and could lead to less fear of the doctors office. I see…

I want to major in nursing and my intention is to become a certified oncology pediatric nurse in the future. An oncology nurse deals with working with patients who have been diagnosed with cancer. Yes, it is something that can be very painful to go through at times, but I think more on the positive side such as helping them with their needs and just making sure they feel comfortable. I want to be able to be that person along their side through all their hard moments and be able to provide some sort of happiness so that they won’t always have to remember about the situation that they are going through. Personally, I decided to focus on specifically becoming an oncology nurse because my grandpa is currently fighting cancer himself and even though…

I realized I wanted to be a nurse after I had my 2nd ACL surgery, my senior year of high school. I had to stay in the hospital 3 days in order to recover, and I was very lucky to have such a wonderful and caring nurse. She made me feel as if I was her only patient. I will never forget how well I was taken care of and how comfortable she made me feel. I was young and scared, but she was reassuring, because she made me feel as if I had my own mother taking care of me. She was the reason I wanted to become a nurse, because I wanted to make others feel the way she made me feel. My personal definition of nursing is encompassed within that one nurse. A nurse should be loving, compassionate, dependable, competent, empathic, responsible, joyful and comforting (just to name a few).…
