Essay On Why I Chose Nursing

I want to go into the pediatric nursing field for many reasons. I really enjoy working with kids especially little children. Volunteering at a saturday school with 4-5 year olds I became very good and comforting a child when sad or lonely. I work well with little children and enjoy being with them. I also want to go into nursing because every time I go to the doctors I always feel as if the nurses there do not enjoy their job. Which is probably wrong but they just always seem so monotone. I am half japanese so every summer when I go over to Japan and need to go to the doctors, the nurses there are always smiling trying to ease the tension between the child and the nurse themselves and that is the kind of nurse I want to be. I want to be a nurse like that in America to show people how much of a difference it could make and could lead to less fear of the doctors office. I see
At my volunteering place I welcome not only the children but the parents with a smile. Every morning when the parents drop their kids off to the playground they stay after and turn in their child’s homework and sign them in. They try and reach for the new homework for that week but I tell them I will do it and that they can go socialize or spend more time with their child before leaving. Every week we have at least three parent volunteers in our classroom. Most of the time I am the only high school volunteer so the help from the parents is so helpful, but I want to limit the things they do and make the time much easier for them. They do so much everyday and having to do the same amount of work at a saturday school they are just volunteering? So I make sure that if they want to help with things I let them, but most of the time I just get everything ready to go. This then brings me and the parents closer and if they need any type of help from volunteering to outside of the school, they know who to
