Essay Assignment
This assignment is worth 50% of each student’s marks for this module.
Students are required to write an essay articulating a position in response to the following question:
Should people have autonomy over their end-of-life decisions?
In this assignment, students are required to articulate well-expressed, cogent arguments in favour of a position in response to the above question. In addition to articulating her own position, each student should also consider and refute some objections to her position. The essay should be well-researched and all sources should be referenced using the Harvard method of referencing. In addition to hard copy submissions, all students must also upload a copy of the essay to Turnitin on Moodle. Plagiarism will result in the invocation of W.I.T.’s Plagiarism Policy.
The essay should be 1,500 words in length. It should be typed in 12 Times New Roman font with 1.5 spacing. Due care and attention should be paid to spelling, grammar and punctuation.
Essays must be submitted to Office AG01 at the entrance to the A.T. Building between 9:30-10:30 am and 11 to 12 noon on Monday 1st December 2014. Students need to attach a plagiarism declaration and cover sheet to their essay. (These will be available on the Moodle page.) In addition to the hard copy submission, students are also required to upload a copy of their essay to Turnitin on Moodle on that date. Students are required to submit both a hard copy to the Office AG01 and an electronic copy via Turnitin on Moodle.
