In the Civil Right Movement, there were many individuals fighting for civil right which is the right a citizen should have to social as well as political freedom and equality.
In other words, civil rights in the right of all individuals to receive equal treatment under the laws of the United States, to be free from unfair treatment or discrimination. Even though the Civil Rights Movement seemed to only be fight for the African Americans it was for anyone who were in a social, ethnic, and religious group who wanted to fight for their equal treatment under the law. Because of these individuals, people now have civil rights and are not segregated. The civil rights movement is a defining event in the American history providing a bracing example for the American people of the fighting ideals of justice as wells as equality amongst
everyone.
During the World War II, African American could serve in the Navy and Army, yet not the Air Force or Marines in the beginning. Over half of million African Americans were sent oversea. Even though, African Americans could serve they were segregated and give the worst jobs. It was after Jackie Robinson broke the segregated barrier in baseball that President Truman ordered the military and the federal government to desegregate. America in the WWI was fighting against an enemy who was eliminating another race, however, American people could not understand how similar circumstance were in treating African American the same way.
There were many individuals who played a part in fighting for civil right, though when people think of the civils movement, most people think of Martin Luther King Jr. and Rosa Park. There were many other people who help make a difference not just these two individuals. The “lesser known” such as Hank Thomas and John Lewis, even though these individuals are not widely known they still had caused an impact towards the civil rights movement. There were many perspectives from both men and women during the Civil Rights Movement, gender played a part.
