Every fossil that has ever been excavated has been helped document the fossil record. All fossils are the remains of living organisms that have been imbedded in sediment. The fossil record can provide a glimpse into the conditions and controversial processes of the past. The Intelligent Design theory is backed by the findings and evidence of paleontology. Charles Darwin thought that all living things were descended from one organism. He thought that as time went by, different species would evolve into others. So, if evolution were true, one would expect the fossil record to be filled with organisms that were in the “inbetween” stages(Buratovich). The fossil record should document the evolution of the species. But, there are no fossils like this that have been found. Instead, all of the fossils that have been excavated are from one species and one species only(Dembski, Wells). Darwinists try and validate their reasoning by noting the similarities between organisms. Instead of a common predecessor, could all life have a common creator? The fossil record clearly does not support the idea of evolution because the documentation of the actual species changing is not evident.(Buratovich). The evidence points rather to a common intelligent designer who created a variety of species from the beginning of time. Some scientists have tried to submit the idea of Punctuated Equilibrium. This is the idea that instead of the more popular idea that evolution is slow and steady, evolution actually happens in short spurts of time.(Dembski, Wells) This, it would seem, would bridge many of the gaps in the evolutionary fossil record. The species would evolve so fast that nature would not have time to fossilize the “inbetween” stages of the change. Still, the changes could not happen in one generation of species. Even if this theory happened to be true, there still should be some fossils
