Example Essay Becoming a parent can be very exciting! A baby can change your life in so many ways, it can cause trouble, and it can cause you to enjoy the good times. I’m not a parent because I have no kids of my own, but I have had much experience to know that parenthood causes a lot of problems when you are young in age. When I was 16, my oldest sister brought a little boy into the world. I thought it was going to be fun having a baby around and I was so glad that I finally had a nephew. My sister was only 17, she really didn’t know how to raise a baby and I didn’t know anything about it either. It was the lack of experience; this was the first time in years a baby had been brought in the home. We were still in school, and every morning my sister would get up at 5.a.m, to prepare the baby things and have enough time to prepare her own self for school. The bus didn’t come around to pick us up until 7. So I didn’t quite understand why she had to get up so early. She left the baby with our mother and off to school we would go. I really didn’t see anything wrong but after awhile, things begin to change quickly. Every afternoon, I would rush home from school to spend time with my nephew. I learned how to feed him, I would play with him, and sometimes he fell asleep in my arms. I quickly learned that there was no love like a mothers’ love because every time he would cry, the only person that could make him stop was my sister. He was getting older now and things were getting harder for the both of us. Sometimes my sister would have to stay after school, which left me with responsibilities that I didn’t want to take. At times I couldn’t do my homework because he wanted to play, or he wanted to be held. I was the only one around because my mother went to work when we got home from school. I felt like it wasn’t my responsibility to watch out for him and spend all my time at home. I wanted to go out with friends and have fun
