Location of the Study The study will be conducted in Calamba City Science High School in Lecheria, Calamba. The study would test the antifungal effect of the pineapple’s skin extract on Candida albicans.
Instruments
The researchers will use Candida albicans that they will buy from University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB). The fungus, then, will be divided into three setups: Set A, Set B, and Set C. Each set will contain Candida albicans placed in a Petri dish. These sets will be given different amounts of the Pineapple skin’s soap extract; Set A will be given 40%, Set B will be given 70% and Set C will be given 90% of the soap extract. The researchers will also use microscope which will be borrowed from the Laboratory of Calamba City Science High School.
Data Gathering Process
9
The Candida albicans placed in three sets will be given definite amount of the Pineapple skin extract soap. The fungus will be studied for five days. The researchers will use a microscope to count if the colony of fungi grew or decreased upon the use of the skin extract.
Statistical Analysis
The researchers will use Microbial Parameters that is often need to be defined as mass rather than Colony forming unit (CFU) or optical density (OD) which is easily measurable using plate counting method or spectrophotometer especially for any attempt in modeling of contaminant transport and biodegradation in aquifer systems.
The Microbial Parameters will be used to analyze the effectiveness of the extract in terms of the fungus’ mortality for five days under the lens of a
