Example Of Poor Communication In ICU At Herman Hospital

While Don was in ICU at Herman Hospital there were several examples of poor communication. One was when the doctor was trying to get Don to breathe to prevent fluid buildup in his lungs. The doctor was constantly yelling at Don. The doctor told him that he was going to die and that Don decision not to breathe was not negotiable. Although his tactic worked, I believed the doctor could have been less aggressive. He could have used a better approach instead of yelling at his patient. Another example was when the coach came into the room to feed Don. He didn’t wait until Don was fully awake to explain to him what he was trying to do.
