Examples Of Dawn In Romeo And Juliet

Dawn is a term used in writing when a character has just discovered something or realized what something means. If something is “dawned” on someone the are immediately struck with distress about what may happen in a certain situation. This may have a good impact on someone because they can used what they have found out wisely. In Act lll, Scene 5 of William Shakespeare's The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, Juliet has a thought that Romeo may be in trouble when she says, “Thou need’st not to be gone.” (Romeo and Juliet. 3.5.16)Juliet is struck with the fact that Romeo might die and she will be left with nothing but grief and this is an example of getting dawned upon because she was suddenly sad what she figured out that Romeo might die. Similarly
Lana Del Rey expresses Dawning in her song Summertime Sadness by stating, “Oh my God, I feel it in the air……..Honey I'm on fire, I feel it everywhere Nothin' scares me anymore…….Kiss me hard before you go.” (Del Rey. 10) The young woman realizes that her baby is going to leave her and this is an example of her getting Dawned upon because the idea of that dread just came to her out of the blue. Personally a situation that I have been dawned in was when it started to rain one day and it got really windy when I was at school. I had realized that I left my ping pong table open and it would get soaking wet. That is an example of getting Dawned upon because the thought had just made me realize that something not so good will happen. Getting dawned is realizing that something dreadful may happen in the future and this was shown throughout Romeo and Juliet, Summertime Sadness, and my personal experience.
