In the short story, it showed that Hazel, Harrisons’ mother and George, Harrisons’ father lived in fear. It showed that George was afraid to take his handicap’s off. The government stated that they were going to take anyone who took the off. The rules were like if one was beautiful, a mask had to be wore. If one was smart a handicap had to be placed in the ear. If one was strong and or either tall, weights had to be wore. Yea, the rules were made to make everyone equal, but all it did was made conflict, problems, and people that was not what the rules required, then the government forced them to change. So yes, Harrison’s world is a dystopia.
The next event that took place to show that Harrison’s world is a dystopia was when Hazel, Harrison’s mother, who was not that intelligent but fitted the government requirements. So, when see thought or saw something she would forget what it was about. Especially anything that mad or sad or that was sad. So, when she was watching TV and Harrison got shot she was crying and when George came back into the living room from the kitchen, from getting him a beer.
