The founding fathers were afraid of any entity in the new government becoming too much like the monarchs they had fled from. For that reason there are limitations built into the United States Constitution that give each branch of government some control over the other branches. The United States system of government is based on a set of checks and balances that keep one branch or one person from becoming too powerful. It divides the powers of the federal government between the Congress, the President and the Federal Courts. One of the powers of the President is to exercise the veto over bills passed by Congress. This…

Children need to have boundaries and rules, regarding behaviour, which are clear and easy for them to understand. They need to see adults reinforcing these boundaries and rules regularly. If they do not understand them, if they are not clear, or if they are not consistently applied this gives conflicting messages this can then lead to confusion for them. Children can feel insecure if boundaries and rules keep changing; they can become upset and find it difficult to know how they should behave.…
Child discipline is something that we have all experienced personally in different forms, seen used on others, and is also to some degree what many of us will go on to practice later in life with our own children. Each person has their own opinion on what discipline is and how it should be used on children. The Webster dictionary defines discipline as “training to ensure proper behavior: the practice or methods of teaching and enforcing acceptable patterns of behavior.” Nowhere in this definition does it condone physical punishment, or say you need to use harsh and malicious strategies to acquire the behavior you seek. Discipline of children should be used in a positive manner, to encourage appropriate conduct, rather than be used as reprimand and physical punishment, because discipline is meant to help teach and guide children to act properly in accordance with the rules.…

Because rewards and stages of sanctions are well known by all, no child can claim to be treated unfairly because all are treated in the same way by the Positive Assertive Discipline. It demonstrates “Zero tolerance― of unacceptable behaviour and it encourages children and young people to change their behaviour and be responsible for choosing good behaviour. A child or young person has the right to work at school without being disturbed by others in the room and others have the same right so that all can benefit from learning. Teachers have the right to spend time teaching and not on pupils who are not on task. Parents are partners with the school for the sake of their children and have responsibility to ensure that their child follows the agreed code of behaviour.…

I strongly agree with the statement “there is no literature without conflict”. It applies well to the play Antigone by Jean Anouilh. The most significant conflict exists between Antigone and Creon the king. Despite this major conflict, there is also another minor conflict between Antigone and Ismene. Conflicts do not have to be between two people. A good example would be whether or not to obey the law, when Antigone decides whether she should take the risk and try to bury her deceased brothers. In Creon’s point of view, he has to have a conflict to make up his mind whether or not, and how Antigone will be punished after she violates his command. All these conflicts contribute the play a central idea and provide the play with a clear plot.…
