The Reading Adventureland contained five different literary landscapes inspired by children’s book. The five literary landscapes are Mystery Mansion, Upside-Down Nonsense House, Adventure Island, Fairy Tale Forest, and Wizard’s Workshop. I decided to observe children at Adventure Island as there were more children playing. The caves in Adventure Island had a sandbox and the boys were throwing sands around showing that there motor skills are developing to the point where they can throw at a great distance. For girls, I see that they don’t throw sands around like the boys do; they tend to fill the buckets with sands instead. Cognitively, it seemed that the girls are more mature than the boys are because the girls followed the rules given by their parents, such as do not throw the sand, on other hand, the boys don’t listen. Socially, the boys are more aggressive because they like to knock the sand towers or piles down as they yell. I believe that the boys are imagining that they are monsters taking over the “city.” The girls ran to their parents after their sand tower were destroyed by the boys.
