Persuasive Leaders Racism and inequality are issues that have stemmed from the beginning of time. Humans have a tendency to fear the unknown or people that are different from themselves. How do the leaders that we look up to or the media that we listen to affect our opinions of those different than us? Do we listen to the prejudices of others and become more prejudice ourselves, or do we listen to others strive for equality and strive harder ourselves to end racism? Do we simply listen with one ear and let the information that we hear go out the other ear, making our own mind up how we perceive the racism and the equality issues? In this writing, I will list several leaders and the opinions that they have toward racism, both leaning towards prejudice and those that strive for the equality of everyone. John Carr is a great example of a leader of our religious world and our political world. He has served as the director of justice, peace and human development for the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops and as a residential fellow at the Harvard Institute of Politics.
