Throughout the progression of mankind one thing has virtually been a way to both settle problems and bring a nation together and that is war. When there is war, death usually is not too far behind, and when there are deaths there are funerals. One hundred fifty two years ago, Abraham Lincoln devised a speech known as the “Gettysburg Address.” After comparing the speech to “Pericles Funeral Oration”, one can infer that they are similar to each other for they both speak on the topics of fallen soldiers, war, and the affect it has upon their nation.
In the “Gettysburg Address,” Abraham Lincoln speaks on the deaths of the fallen soldiers. He says “,… gave their lives that that nation might live.”
