Power Corrupts One’s Mind
“With great power comes great responsibility.” — Spiderman. Power. What is power? Is it positive? Negative? Power is an infection, a disease, a plague of persuasion of unwinding the morals and ethics of one’s character. However, power can also be just the thing to make leaders more assertive, confident, and free. Power can corrupt one’s mind to lead him or her towards the wrong path, the path of self-interests. Some leaders start off not wanting to do wrong, however power and its perks scurry through a leaders mind corrupting their mentality causing a rift in their demands and needs. Power can cause an individual to use his or her dominance and authority for personal gain. In addition, it can cause a mindset to believe that it is different than others as punishments and laws do not apply to itself solely because of its has leverage. Power also also creates dominance as seen in governments and history, specifically slavery. Even though, for many years power has strived to exist in helping to organize society, it has and always will be a negative aspect of humankind. Man will continue to receive and misuse power, however, the followers need to speak up and revolt against unjust power abuse. Follower opinions and decisions can and will dominate over power, thus creating a favorable outcome and important precedent for both leaders and
