Examples Of Power In Antigone

Power is what keeps this world from going into Kaos. Depending on who holds, it might make a positive or negative impact on society. Then again about 70% of the people that have power will abuse it and use it to their likeness. Power also has the strength to manipulate people and their actions. A good example of this in Antigone is when King Creon made a new rule that if anyone were to bury his brother Polynices, they shall be sentenced to death. He used his power in a negative way to make sure the people in his kingdom don't bury his brother. He used his power to create fear in his people by adding a punishment to the people that disobeyed him. This shows that power can be abused in many ways and manipulate people. Even though after
the rule was set in place, Antigone still decided to bury polyneices because she did what she believed was right. Another good present day example is Kim Jong Un abusing his power. Kim Jong Un is abusing his power by using power to keep his country in isolation from the rest of the world and enforcing psychotic rules. If the people don't follow his rules then they will either be tortured or sentenced to death. He is also using his power to manipulate people. By adding the punishment to the rule puts fear into the people and Kim Jong Un’s people are forced to follow because they don't want any of his punishments. Again power can make a major impact whether it is good or bad. But throughout history and even today is still being abused.
