through all the locations of the white house, it went from New York, switched locations a few times and has been and still is in Washington D.C. He was favored to be president just because he was a leading, strong, and well liked leader of the revolutionary war... this made him very popular with the people and was just the sort of head figure everyone wanted at that time, and that sort of legacy still follows him today. He was not part of any political party nor was he a great public speaker but he establishes the general roles and duties of presidency. It takes a lot of thought and consideration to be a good president and George Washington is definitely the best example of this. The presidential campaign of 1980 was a very controversial and time consuming debate because no one was sure on who to vote for.
Ronald Reagen was a former radio announcer and actor making him seem unreliable to lead our country to stability, but he proved everyone wrong when he got elected as president of the United States in 1981 with 67% of the votes. Reagan was a republican and he gathered large support in debates. He was in office during some very historical moments like the cold war and when financial aid was created. Being in office while any war is going on is hard enough but he managed to end the war and further crete tax reform and promoted peace through strength. This made him a stronger president and set a great example to future presidents who had to deal with a situation like war. He worked hard to prevent communism. In his time serving, he accomplished what many prior presidents could not do and he kept the country economically stable. He proved everyone who doubted him due to his artistic past and showed everyone that he had enough to be a great
president. Now in 2016, we are up to our 44th president in which was also a very controversial debate. Many people felt many different ways towards him. But in 2008, Obama got elected as president against Hillary Clinton — currently running for president — and won. Obama defeated the odds and typical stereotypes for all presidents, he became the first black president to take office. He dealt with lots of racism as a democrat and as a person but his motto was “change”, he was going to be the change we needed in this country. He helped tremendously get america out of the great recession through the economic stimulus bill and he offered hundreds of opportunities to wealthy and to poor. Unemployment rate dropped, healthcare expanded nation wide and Obama care was created for the lower class. Obama ran two terms while at war, yet still stabilizing the economy drastically and recapitalized banks. People felt very biased towards him, but what matters most is that he stabilized the economy from the recession that Bush left our nation in. Obama has done a great job as president by fixing the “broken parts” and remaking them, but better. The presidential nominees of 2016 are Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. Hillary is known by most of the country for running in 2008 and for being secretary of state from 2009-2013. Trump is known for being an American business man whom makes ridiculous remarks about several irrelevant topics. Hillary Clinton was involved in a scandal which dealt with confidential emails sent on a non-protected computer while Trump was making crazy remarks on “building a wall” and deporting all muslims. Although, Clinton is and experienced politician and knows how things get done in Washington, so she can be relatively effective. She also has a lot of knowledge in terms of foreign policy, so she can hit the ground running, while Trump has experience as a business man yet is involved in various scandals related to his business practices, and some regarding possible corruption. Hillary is more experience and has more to offer for this country while trump would lead us to chaos, aside from the fact that he is strongly disliked by minorities and very unpopular abroad. If I could add requirements for U.S president as set forth by the constitution, I would add that they could not have any criminal records or past accusations. A person running to lead our country should be the biggest example to all genders and ages and having any type of record or accusation in their history makes them seem unreliable. I would also add that they be physically and mentally healthy to lead the country. It would not feel safe to have someone over 70 with a disease in charge because although the older age causing more experience, the might not mentally have the mind to serve a country now. We need someone who is healthy, understanding and has passion in leading the country. What makes a great president seem to be a much more important idea that most give credit for. Next time you see or think of what makes a great president, think about what you just read and realize what is really going on. To be a great president, it takes lots of factors including social, economic and political factors, George Washington, Ronald Reagan and Barack Obama all excelled in these factors making them great presidents which have change history and our nation forever. It is likely you under valued what makes a great president before, but will now start to give the credited needed and deserved.
