Women's rights have been a great controversy in the past, especially in other countries, where women must obey orders, and there only aspiration in life could be to become someone’s wife.
In America, even though women had to fight for equal job rights, not only can we vote, but we can also obtain the same education and jobs as men. When I ponder about the opportunities this country has to offer, I often visualize my kids getting on the school bus every morning. In comparison to countries like Africa, Haiti, and Kenya; that get little to no education, we are truly privileged. An educated society can impulse progress and make dramatic changes in those areas where segregation still
exists.
Arguably, a positive disposition coupled with hard work and maybe a hint of luck can be the path to a joyful life in this generous country. However; terrorism, gun control, and economy are still major stepping stones that could be addressed to create a stronger nation. The news on terrorisms or even mass shootings happening around this country could make the bravest person quiver in fear. The economy has its flaws too, and with the loss of jobs, and increase of unemployment; people are finding it tougher to secure financial stability. Another aspect that American society could improve on is consumerism. The Black Friday holiday is the most despicable activity ever invented. Is no wonder utter madness ensues when people gather up in front of malls to wait for the doors to open. This holiday makes people lose their sense of humanity in favor of chaos and apparent savings. Consequently, people trample each other to get the best deals, which is a stark contrast of the values the country upholds.
Although America has its issues, it also holds great potential, is a country of convenience, with a stupendous future, a fantastic spirit, an a rich culture. No words could do justice to the level of appreciation I hold for this country. Therefore, it is our responsibility as citizens, to protect it, to nurture it with kindness and respect for each other, and look for active ways to keep it a place where future generations can come to fulfill their dreams.
