All Australian children have the right to high quality care by educators who are committed and passionate. The National Quality Standard (NQS) was created to be sure all Australian early learning centres comply to deliver the best quality care that children are entitled to receive. Centre staff and Goodstart head office communicates with families and the community to create a personal centre philosophy. The philosophy discusses the image of the child and how their wonder about the world and their environment will be guided through scaffolding experiences. ‘Element 1.2.2 highlights how educators will respond to the child’s ideas and play and use intentional teaching to scaffold and extend each child’s learning’ (Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority [ACECQA, 2017, p. 40). By scaffolding and modelling to children through daily interaction it helps them to become confident, successful and knowledgeable individuals. However I believe that in order to do this you need the correct environment, which is welcoming and engaging to the children. The centre philosophy discusses how safety and health of the children is a priority and I agree with this. However, I believe that there is more to just health and safety. If you have the support from other educators who are as dedicated and determined as you then the children are going to have a positive experience. Supporting other staff members is essential and professional learning allows staff to build on their knowledge and skills (Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations [DEEWR], 2009, p. 11). By collaborating with one another educators are able to express their knowledge and help one another in providing a successful curriculum. ‘The early childhood profession needs visionary and effective leaders so it can best position itself to meet future challenges’ (Rodd, 2012, p. 1). I believe that there is still so much to learn. I am dedicated and if I continue to be dedicated then it will help build on my knowledge. This helps create a better opportunity for future children, colleges, caregiver and the local community that I may be involved
