Currently, we are putting a plan in place for a cleaner environment which is central to the Government’s vision for a stronger Australia. This environmental framework falls under 4 categories; clean air, clean water, clean land and national heritage.
The Department of Environment enables the Australian Government to join with the states and territories in providing a national scheme to protect Australia's national environment and heritage. The department focuses on the Australian Government interests on the protection
of our national environment.
Matters dealt with by the department include greenhouse emission, energy consumption, renewable energy, environmental water use and climate change. The Department will deal with these issues, and together create a better, greater Australia.
