A child’s ability can change daily on what they can do so it is important to make sure you are keeping up with this when looking at safe environments for children. To do this you need to look at the hazards within the setting and change them to make them suitable for the children. Your manager or the company should look at the frequently by carrying out Health and Safety risk assessments within the setting. Meaning that you could have two children of the same age at different stages for example one could be walking and one could still be crawling meaning that they would both require different things from the practitioner. The child that is walking will need to support of the practitioner to ensure that they don’t fall onto anything that they could hurt themselves on where as the chid that is crawling many need to be encouraged to stand/ pull themselves up. Within the setting you work at there may be some children who have individual needs and requirements that are different to the other children. This could be things such as needing a bigger space to get through doors etc because they are in a wheelchair. It is important to make they feel as equal ability to the other children and be able to do as much as possible of what the other children can do with the practitioner at the same time understanding the individual needs of the child.
