Explain Why Slavery Is Wrong

First of all, Lincoln did not achieve to give total equality to African Americans. However, he believed that slavery was wrong and with the Emancipation Proclamation and the Thirteen amendment, Lincoln brought forward the rights of African American. To begin with, the proclamation and the amendment Lincoln passed had for goal to forbid slavery. Indeed, Lincoln believed that slavery was bad. This belief will appear through his statements. For instance, Lincoln once said that “[he] [was] naturally anti-slavery,” and that “[if] slavery [was] not wrong, nothing [was] wrong.” This statement shows that Lincoln believed in what he fought for, and that it was not only for political and economical reasons. Indeed, in this statement, Lincoln clearly said that slavery is so wrong, that if it is not wrong, therefore, nothing is wrong, so, for example, if slavery is not wrong, torturing and killing somebody else should also be seen as not wrong.
Furthermore, Lincoln with the proclamation and the amendment is, logically, bringing the idea that African American people are not objects. Also, he achieved to deliver many slaves from their status. Indeed, as discussed in class, one third of the South States’ population were slaves, which end up being an enormous number of slaves. So, Lincoln through the Emancipation Proclamation and the Thirteen Amendment and by winning the civil war will, consequently, liberate most of those slaves. In other words, Lincoln will achieve to create a big step in the struggle for African American people equality. In conclusion, maybe Lincoln did not achieve to gain African American total equality, but he delivered a majority of them from their slave’s status and he did it not only for economic and political reasons, but because he also believed slavery was
