Freedoms During The Civil War

Freedoms often change, but must they be regained from time to time? There have been multiple occurrences throughout history with leaders, forms of government, and groups who try to limit freedom. There are also those great people who have put forth an immense amount of work to gain the rights and freedoms that should be theirs to savor. Things like this have happened from early egyptian rulers, all the way to the dictators and people of a “different breed”. It happened during the holocaust with whom most people think of only Jews. Hitler and his army would enter nearly everyone who was different than them into “Concentration Camps”, where they would be worked to death or murdered. They could also die from the harsh conditions. It was a victorious attempt. Lincoln was able to end slavery in the young United States of America for good. But that’s not where it ended for the poorly treated African Americans. A fairly long time after the Civil War, African Americans still had to face discrimination. Example would be not being able to use a certain water fountain, if one at all. Rosa Parks sat in the front of a bus, when “colored people” are only allowed in the back. When a white person who was apparently the dominant person asked her to move, she did not. This is part of the chain of events that sparked the 1960’s Civil Rights Movement. She was arrested for not listening to the white person. Martin Luther King Junior wanted freedom and an end to segregation and discrimination. He led friendly protests, boycotts, and helped to achieve the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The Civil Rights Act outlawed discrimination because of race, color, religion, sex, or national origin. Martin Luther King Junior also received a Nobel Peace Prize in 1964 for his a collective work that led to the end of
