1. To me, the turning point was when Teal moved to Cougar Creek. Suddenly not seeing Teal and with him going to a place where no one went to and him only going back to the town a few times, this was the point in which the narrator started being interested in Teal.
2. There were two sides to his reasoning for not approaching Teal directly. First was, “But I was shy and my father disapproved of that kind of curiosity” (Teal 2). This stopped him for the many years up until he returned from college. The second reason was the first instance when he first went up the creek to see Teal. The first time he tried to visit him left him frightened, but not of Teal but of intruding his space (Teal 2). After that, I think he didn’t confront Teal because
