Why were many Americans reluctant to pursue independence from Britain?
Many Americans were hesitant to pursue independence from Britain. The Americans were scared being raided by other countries without the protection of the British army. The British army was vital to the Americans survival because they were “the largest and best-trained soldiers in the world” and they had no other way of defending themselves.
