At first we would like for you to try to test your sugar at least three times a day and keep a record. When you have diabetes your pancreas is not able to do its job and release the insulin that your body needs so first we try to control it by diets and exercise. For a lot of people this makes a big difference. For the people that diet and exercise still are not enough we try to use an oral medication to regulate the pancreas. There are other measures to take if it your sugar still isn’t becoming regulated. Management of your diabetes is going to require efforts though of a multidisciplinary team. This team is going to be made up of you, the doctor, your nurse, your pharmacist, and of a dietician. It is very important that you participate in this and try to stick with the plan. If diabetes continues unregulated it puts strains on other organ systems especially the cardiovascular system. So maintaining your sugar levels are very important to your body. There are little things in your body that recognize when your sugar is too high or too low and it sends up a message to the brain saying hello we have a problem. The sugar is not where it should be.
