EXPLORING GREEN TECHNOLOGY Are you concerned about our world? Are you recycling? Are you making changes to help make the world better for future generations? Do you know what green technology is? Did you know that you could be using green technology and not know it? In this paper I will be explaining what green technology is, the effects of green technology, what the goals of green technology are as well as other ways to help the world and try to convince you to do more to help our world and environment to be safer for everyone especially the generations to come. Green technology is technology which is environmentally friendly, developed and used in a way that it does not disturb our environment and conserve natural resources (www. deepgreenrobot.org). Green technology has been adopted in the last couple of decades. Green is the way to go today. Green technology is sometimes referred to as environmental or clean tech. The future promises to bring bigger and better things in this field. It will be a necessity of the future. Green technology relies on the availability of alternative sources of energy; which the purpose is to reduce global warming and the greenhouse effect. The objective is to find ways to create new technologies that do not damage or deplete the earth’s natural resources. By finding alternative ways it will cause less harm to humans, animals and planet life as well as not damaging the world. The environment needs to recover from pollution. With the help of green technology, we can reduce pollution and improve the cleanliness of the world. Today, developed as well as developing counties are turning to green technology to save the environment from negative impacts. The importance of using green technology today is imperative. We have to stay informed on what is happening around the world. Technology and companies are focused on

There are many ways to conserve natural resources, all we need to do is look around and find a way to minimize the usage of natural resource that we using everyday. For example, turn off the lights when we leave the house; minimize the waste produced by buying less packaged goods and reusable products, and recycling. These are little things we can do to help, and these does not take much effort to do; however, if everybody does the same, we can still make that difference. In the big picture, we can consider using more renewable natural resources such as hydro-power and solar-power. These energy resources are the best ways to conserve natural resource such as fossil fuel. Fortunately, many energy conservative products have been invented: hybrid or electric cars and energy-efficient home appliances. These are the reflections of people’s concern towards the natural resources depletion. On the whole, we need to start do our share to conserve the energy and resource as part of our responsibility to the natural…

“The primary barrier to going green is the cost competitiveness between renewable energy and other sources of electricity” (Outka, 2012, par.39). The reason that most consumers do not purchase energy saving appliances is very simple, they cannot afford it. For example, an energy-saving refrigerator freezer can cost up to a third more than a non-energy-saving refrigerator freezer, and it can take up to 8.1 years for the consumer to see a return on their investment (Roberts, 2010). Currently green products cost more because of the new research and technology required to…

This chapter started life as lecture notes and graphical displays prepared by Douglas H. Norrie (with data up to 1975) for his class "Technology in Contemporary Society." In 1984 Fitzgerald-Moore amplified the notes and started an annual revision of the data. In 1996, the notes and graphs were turned over to Brian Parai to form the basis of a term paper under Fitzgerald-Moore's supervision. Parai's paper has been extensively quarried during the revision of this chapter in the series "Lectures on Technology". We wish to thank the following who provided additional input : Parampreet Singh Sekhon; Ravi Bhalla ; and Zaheer Baber. Research is still in progress; many reference…

3,000 years ago, human beings discovered coal and began to burn it in order to get heat and energy, which contributed to people’s lives a lot. However, it brought kinds of problems to the environment. During the process of burning, it produces carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide and smoke. Those products may lead to acid rain and global warming that are harmful to the environment. Nevertheless, with the development of technologies, renewable energy sources and green technologies have been created. Thus, most people don’t use coal anymore and the environment has been protected. New technology changes people’s lives every second. How does new technology contributes to sustainable environment on earth? There are four major aspects for new technology to make environment sustainable: it can help people explore sources of renewable energy, it can help people solve pollution problems, it can help people balance the ecosystem, it can encourage people to devote themselves to the science for environment.…
