Video games have immediate positive effects when prosocial games are played, and even games that are not specifically prosocial can have positive effects as well. A much wider range of video games exist then just the antisocial games that are often exhibited in media, and these games have been used to explore and encourage large group discussions about morality, as well as being used for educational purposes such as exploring historical and social patterns and processes. Video games are uniquely suited to explore complex moral process, and use not only the story, but interaction with the game itself to teach players positive moral behavior and deliberation processes through play itself. Video games are more complex than the majority of the media makes them, and the entire genre of entertainment should not be defined by a small portion of its content. Until the majority of people realize the positive effects video gaming can have, they’ll continue to be seen as destructive, and a lot of potential good will be lost on people who probably need…

Video game consoles have made their way into the households and hearts of millions of people all around the world. New games of all different genres are continually being produced and bought by consumers from every inch of the globe, only becoming more popular as time goes on. Throughout the past couple of years technology as a whole has been on a drastic up rise. With continuous breakthroughs in the technological field the video game industry has been able to flourish into its current state. Companies now days are able to produce more and more realistic like gaming experiences. These life-like graphics and visual effects put the gamer right in the action, bringing joy to many while enraging numerous others. The way in which one views and understands the game’s contents is the way in which one perceives the video game. More often than not parents, who do not play video games, tend to focus on the negative aspects of the game, namely violence. The parents who are buying the video games for their children see only the cruelty and disgusting features making up only part of the whole. Most avid gamers would agree with the above statement, arguing the blood and gore is just a small part of the many aspects of some video games that complement the other components such as graphic quality and plot. The way in which one perceives an individual video game more often than not depends on whether or not the person is a gamer. The way in which some people perceive video games angers me because it seems as though they are over looking the big picture and viewing the game with a pessimistic point of view. By doing this, those people are doing themselves and the creators of games an injustice.…

I grew up in a household where video games were a privilege that I had to earn. When I had done all my homework and chores, I was allowed to play video games for an hour a day. As I grew older my parents thought I could make my own choices and did not limit the amount of time I spent playing video games. Many people today think that video games cause children to become couch potatoes, act dumb, and be rude. As a young child, my parents taught me that responsibilities come before the reward. That is why I have a different opinion of video games. I believe that video games can be beneficial to individuals; however, there are limitations. They help children deal with cancer, improve literacy skills, gain educational skills, and stay fit, but individuals should be cautious about the genre of the game and the amount of play time. When these precautions are taken, video games can be a helpful tool for many.…

In literature the connotative meanings associated with the colour green are as wide and varied as they are interesting. To the Latin, Greek, and Old English poets green is usually associated with nature, vitality, and ripeness, but Homer did juxtapose the colour beside ideas concerning fright and fear; it therefore usually possesses a positive connotation which is usually associated with earthly elements or forces, but it can also connote fear, dread, and sin. The famous green sash adopted by Gawain became a sign and reminder to the Knights of Camelot about mankind’s mortal and sinful nature. The connotative meaning shifted slightly over time; consequently, during Shakespeare’s lifetime well into the early Romantic period of Shelley & Byron, the colour took on pretty much a strictly negative connotation associated with envy, jealousy, naivety and foolishness.…

Entertainment is the main key for movies and television but in some special case. Other than the news and other cases, our culture today needs to be entertained. Not only do movies and television affect culture, electronic gaming also has a hold on our culture and society. From something that started out small, it has made a big impact on society. It has changed way people now live their lives. Instead of kids saving up their money to get a bike or basketball, they are now saving up to get a video game. It has made a big different on obesity in the United State because the number of hours people sit in the front of their television. I feel as if it changed and made our culture lazy, which is something that we actually don’t need. Even though I think they changed society for the worse, they have released so important and influential in the past couple of years. They I feel as if it wasn’t just a particular game that was influential to society, but it was the consoles that actually play the games that are important. For instant, I would like to start with the PlayStation 3. It is most of the most popular systems on the market. It has the power of a high-tech computer and it has the…
