Without expression there is no soul in the human body. People in Oceania are taught what to think and what do out of the threat of unspeakable punishment. People cannot even write anything un-government related, without the fear of death. Freedom of expression is also needed to remain human because the spread of expressionism goes hand in hand with the culture of a nation. Without expression related culture there is no art, and no media, and such the people are more like robots than anything. Without the freedom of expression there is no voice people cannot spread their opinions and innermost thoughts, they become prisoners in their own bodies. Anybody in Oceania who dares even mention the fact that Big brother or the Party is wrong faces immediate punishment. Thus, it allows the rulers of Oceania to keep their people manageable and easy to control. In reality the need for political skepticism is needed as it helps human become together as one. By not always going by what others tell you it further develops the person’s mind and ideas. This freedom allows people to feel human by expression of individuality as well as not everybody lies who is in charge. People can debate and argue and write what they think is wrong about the government which allows people to act upon their own judgement and not like robots. The need for skepticism is truly needed to better help humans as well. When people come together to fight back against a government they don’t feel is right or doing as it should be doing, they can help improve the lives of others by changing it.
