Eye Color and Chocolaty Brown Ones

It’s Tuesday morning, 6 a.m. to be exact. I sleep peacefully in my bed, hidden under the floral bedspread. Eight pillows are surrounding my small, eight-year-old frame, giving me a safe and comforted feeling. My dreams are peaceful and pure; innocent like a child’s dreams should be. As the images dance under my eyelids I am gently shook awake by his gentle touch. “Ambyrrr,” his voice is like a melody to my ears and it automatically brings a sense of love and safety to me. I slowly open my hazel green eyes and they meet his chocolaty brown ones. I let out a soft grunt and roll over, not wanting to leave the comfort of my nice warm bed. A soft chuckle echoes through the room and any one could sense the love and admiration he held behind it. He once again reaches out with his hand and gently shakes my shoulder. With a hand that has seen so much hard work that the skin was permanently tough you would think it would not be capable of being gentle, but that’s all it was anymore. A hand that had once beaten down a few men was now used for nothing but love. “Ambyr, honey. Get up. We’re going to Hansen’s, remember?” I roll over onto my back and let out a big yawn. I reach my arms over my head and stretch my body out like a cat does right after its nap. I sit up and, with my tiny hands, rub the sleep away from my eyes. I look up at him and smile, and as He smiles back at me respect, love, and admiration runs through my entire body. “There we go. Get dressed and brush your hair out,” he stands up and walks towards the door then turns around and playing points his finger at me, “And don’t you dare go back to sleep now.” A smile tugs at his mouth as he disappears out my door and down the hall. I hurriedly leap out of my bed and throw on the quickest outfit I can find. Then I walk out my room head towards the bathroom.
