Members demonstrate their business expertise at high-profile regional, state, and national competitive events that recognizes and rewards excellence in a broad range of business and career-related areas. Competitive events fall into three categories: individual, team, and chapter. Individual and team events focus on skills useful in leadership and career development; chapter events recognize overall achievement and performance in chapter management and growth. At the State Leadership Conferences, students compete in events testing their business knowledge and skills. Top state winners are then eligible to compete for national awards at the National Leadership Conference each summer. With a variety categories, these competitions are fit for any member. Members have access to select college scholarships, can create career portfolios, and enhance their knowledge with world-recognized skills certifications.
Also,students write essays on the American enterprise system and stage a monopoly tournament with customized rules representing various economic systems. Members also have access to the Barton college FBLA scholarship. The Barton College FBLA Scholarship is an annually renewable grant that awards $1,000 towards tuition to a maximum of five entering (or transfer) students who demonstrate active participation in Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) in high school or Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) at a former
college.
Members also receive exclusive discounts and enhanced benefits for travel, education, and more. They can expand their educational opportunities with certifications and academic competitions, get discounts on travel and insurance, earn recognition for their achievements, or travel to state and national leadership conferences. Members also get money-saving discounts on shopping, hotels, insurance, car rentals, educational resources, and more. FBLA members can apply for scholarships from America's universities, colleges, and educational programs. The FBLA charity of choice is the March of Dimes, which helps end premature births by participating in awareness campaigns and the March for Babies fundraiser. The top local and state chapters raising the most money for the March of Dimes are recognized at the National Leadership Conference. Additional recognition opportunities are available on the local and state March of Dimes and FBLA-PBL levels. Students celebrate World Prematurity Day on November 17 and throughout the entire month of November by coloring their school Purple to End Prematurity. With so many opportunities for FBLA members it’s obvious why there are so many students in this fantastic club. Year after year this club continues to grow and get better. It offers numerous chances for members to participate and earn community service hours or certifications which will help them succeed throughout college and in the years ahead. FBLA has something for everyone, even those who do not plan on pursuing business degree. FBLA teaches life skills that all students need in order to be successful, hardworking citizens in their adult life.
